24-7 Prayer is an international, interdenominational movement of prayer, mission and justice that began with a single, student-led prayer vigil in Chichester, England in 1999 and has spread, by word-of-mouth, into over one hundred nations.
For more than a decade the global 24-7 Prayer meeting has continued unbroken, impacting locations as diverse as the US Naval Academy, a German punk festival, war-zones and underground churches, the slums of Delhi, the jungles of Papua New Guinea, ancient English cathedrals and even a brewery in Missouri.
24-7 Prayer has many champions and leadership teams in different countries. At Emmanuel we are a ‘resource church’ for 24-7 Prayer. This means we are strongly aligned with 24-7 Prayer values: prayer, mission and justice. We are keen to bless and resource the movement in Ireland and in particular support the Ireland leadership team. Alain Emerson and Tash Creaney (two of our staff members) are part of the 24-7 Prayer Ireland leadership team and so it seems natural that 24-7 Prayer has a home here in Emmanuel. We are excited about serving the vision of 24-7 Prayer Ireland to mobilise and catalyse the church in prayer throughout the land.
Pioneer is a network of church hubs and ministries committed to church planting, leadership development, training and the support of innovative caring projects. Billy and Caroline Kennedy, senior leaders of New Community, Southampton, lead the network of more than eighty partnership churches of various sizes and with varying structures, that can be found across the UK, with many more associate churches in mainland Europe, Africa, India, Asia, Australia and the USA.
We are committed to non-religious Christianity, building missional church and working in partnership wherever we can. We in Emmanuel are a Pioneer ‘Hub’ Church. This means we carry the values of Pioneer to help serve, bless and partner with other churches in our area and nation through apostolic leadership. As we facilitate gatherings for support, ministry and training for local church leaders we do so under the banner and values of Pioneer.
Alpha is a global initiative helping people to explore life’s big questions and introduce them to a basic understanding of Christianity. It is a relaxed and non-threatening environment where people are given permission to share their questions and thoughts about life and faith. 19 million people around the world have now completed an Alpha course.
In Emmanuel we have found Alpha to be a brilliant course for engaging with people in our local community who would like to explore these questions, and as such we are pleased to be a resource church for Alpha where we seek to champion the Alpha course around our country. We can provide experience, resources and encouragement for others seeking to run the Alpha course.
