In July 2006 40 people from Emmanuel visited a primary school, Source of Light, in Uganda where we met Richard, a local Pastor who through the help of the organisation Fields of Life saw his vision to build a primary school in the rural village of Jandira fulfilled.  During this trip we built accommodation for the teachers and a kitchen. On our return we decided to send monthly to support a feeding program ensuring that all the children got a meal during the school day.  It became apparent that there was a major need for a secondary school in the area as many of the children where unable to access secondary school education.   In 2008, 80 people from Emmanuel travelled to Jandira and began work on a secondary school, called Light For All.  The secondary school continued and the school began in January 2009.  As the primary school has gained other support mainly through a child sponsorship program we have been able to redirect the monthly support into Light for All which has helped greatly in the start-up costs required.

Our Future

The secondary school and the relationships we have built in Jandira allow us to make this a much wider project of real sustainable development and enhanced community life. We have a channel to outwork all we have been talking and praying for. With the development of education in the villages we are in a much better position to deal with health issues, encourage small income generating initiatives, and long-term see a self-sustaining thriving community. As well as this there is opportunities to preach the gospel, plant new churches and support existing churches and pastors.

There is much work to be done so that ‘Light for All’ becomes an established and respected school that has a reputation for excellence and for nurturing young men and women of God, but we are so excited as we look to the future.

In Gulu we will support Pastor Felix prayerfully and financially in his life-changing work. We continue to pray and discuss how we can be a blessing to the children and adults that he ministers to in Northern Uganda.

The children you see in these pictures dream of an education that will enable them to become the doctors, teachers, pastors and politicians of tomorrow’s Uganda.

Thank you for helping to make these dreams a reality.
